My obsession with food is never ending. My stomach can often feel like a bottomless pit and I never miss a meal. Most of the time when I travel I plan my day around food. I research cute cafes and the best place to get a coffee. Food and adventure, the best part of travelling. I had a huge list of food places I wanted to visit but there wasn’t enough meals in the day for all the food. You can read what was on my ‘NYC To Do List’ here. Now lets have a look at my foodie files from NYC!
Two Hands Cafe – 164 Mott St, New York, NY 10013
I loved this place so much I went back twice. I met friends for brunch here on my first day and we all ordered the avo toast. This lace is very hipster and has a healthy menu. I ordered the Acai bowl on my second trip there and an Iced Almond Chai Latte as pictured below. I wish I could have gone back again it was that tasty. No need for a reservation, just pop on by.
Jack’s Wife Freda – 224 LAFAYETTE STREET – BETWEEN SPRING AND KENMARE STREET or
50 CARMINE STREET – BETWEEN BLEEKER AND BEDFORD STREET.
Don’t judge me but I ordered two brunch items from their menu. I use Instagram to research menus from restaurants and trust me you will be drooling when you look at their Instagram! I went to their smaller cafe in Soho but they said their Carmine Street restaurant is bigger and has much more of a buzz so I recommend trying there. Their Iced Lemonade is so refreshing, amazing hangover cure too! If you are a fan of a good grilled cheese then their famous Madame Freda is for you, the best toasted sandwich I have tasted…YES! I only ate a small amount of my second meal because yes my eyes were too big for my belly!
Famous because of Sex and the City but nevertheless oh so tasty. I heard rave reviews about their banana pudding. I had never tried it before but I’m very adventurous when it comes to food so tried it out and loves it! I went back for more another day. It’s like a mild banoffee pie.
NoMo SoHo – 9 Crosby Street NYC
I stayed in this hotel and it was incredible. You can read my full blog post on the hotel here. Just before I got a taxi to the airport I grabbed a light bite in their restaurant which is like a fancy glass house. I had their Kale Ceaser Salad which was very different to other salads I’ve had before. Having a light bite or even just a drink, this hotel’s restaurant is one not to miss.
Bryant Park Christmas Market
Another last minute plan on my last day but I loved wandering around the Christmas market in Bryant Park. No Chewing Allowed is a French Truffle brand which like it says on the name, you can’t chew their chocolate. You taste the chocolate more and the flavours withing the different types of chocolate. I got a tin for my family for over Christmas, I think it will be a fun game to see who chews first!
Not exactly a cafe but if you are a fan of Reese’s Chocolate then take a trip in as they have every type of Reese’s chocolate! I’m a huge fan and stocked up on the types I couldn’t get in Ireland.
Levain Bakery – 167 West 74th St, New York, NY, 10023
I saved the best till last! On my last day I went completely out of my way to try a Levain cookie. I loved it so much I bought 6 and brought them home on the plane, again don’t judge my love of food please! My favourite was their chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips. These cookies are huge. I tried 3 of their famous 4 and they were 100% worth the trip up to the Upper Westside.
