Could this be the best summer Ireland has seen in years? I think so and I’m making the most of this amazing weather with being outdoors as much as I can. What better way to cool down than being on the water. My new favourite activity is stand up paddle boarding or SUP as it’s known and it’s so much fun. Something different for date night and perfect with a group of friends, it doesn’t matter your level of activity and anyone can do it. However, it does take a little bit of balance but if you don’t feel that confident you can always paddle on your knees. You really feel it in your core afterwards so bring on the abs!
As I’m in Dublin for the summer I’m picking a new activity to try every week. There are so many cool companies with adventure activities on the water it’s hard to choose which one to go with, so I’m going to give you a list of places that have been recommended to me. I’ve linked their websites or instagram below so let’s take a look!
- Big Style: These guys are based in Dun Laoghaire and it’s €20 to rent the boards for an hour and a half. We went out this week and it was so much fun. These guys are full of adventure and they even have a trips away in Mayo and even as far as Sri Lanka!
- SurfDock: Based in Grand Canal Dock in Dublin I’ve heard amazing things about this company. From kayaking to SUP yoga this would be a great way to get on the water in the heart of the city.
- Outdoor Dublin: Based out in the beautiful Skerries this company is perfect to go with if you looking for something to do at the weekend. They have several SUPing trips and even cater for group bookings.
- Pure Magic Kitesurfing: They seem like the pros when it comes to water sports! Based in Clontarf they have SUP lessons from €45.
I’ll be adding more fun summer activities to do on the water in Dublin but let me know if you’ve any more recommendations and I’ll add them into this blog post!
Until the next adventure…
